Fitness to Wear Hearing Protection

A new requirement has been added for employers to ensure workers are fit tested for the hearing testing devices they use and wear.  As of March 31 2023, fit testing of the devices must meet the updated CSA standard Z94.2-14 (R2019), Hearing Protection Devices - Performance, Selection, Care and Use.

Onsite OccHealth can provide all required testing to meet these new current standards for both Qualitative and Quantitative testing.  This testing can be provided both in our clinic or onsite as required by your company.

Qualitative hearing fit testing uses a pass or fail system.  The individual is tested on their ability to hear sounds through their current hearing protection.  This test can be used for both ear plugs and ear muffs.

Quantitative hearing fit testing, tests the individuals ability to hear through ear plugs using equipment designed to get an accurate, real-world picture of your employees’ hearing protection.  This allows you to see if your employees are receiving optimal hearing protection as well as receiving education on proper use of the ear plugs themselves.
