Mask Fitting

  • Alberta Occupational Health and Safety requires bi-annual testing of respiratory equipment.  Other provinces may have more stringent requirements requiring annual testing.
  • Onsite OccHealth provides both Quantitative and Qualitative mask-fitting by certified technicians following CSA, OSHA, and NIOSH Occupational Standards.
  • Our technician will provide respirator education, ensuring correct donning (putting on), doffing (taking off), and proper seal checks.
  • Quantitative tests are performed for all respirators (half and full faced) using our QuantiFit2 mask fitting machine.  Further information on our process and machine is available upon request.
  • Qualitative testing is used for mask fitting of the 3M N95 8210+ mask and relies on a pass/fail test method.  This method tests the subjects' sensory response to detection of a challenge agent (bitter or sweet) and assesses the adequacy of respirator fit.
  • Onsite OccHealth encourages all clients to bring their own respirator for testing and inspection.  If not, we do have various respirators in stock for mask-fitting.
  • Lastly, Onsite OccHealth encourages users to be recertified should there be any facial changes such as weight loss, dental surgery etc.
